The outpouring and generosity of the community toward the Redlands Fire Department and this new ladder truck has resulted in our reaching our base fundraising goal of
$ 160,000.00 to qualify for the FEMA grant and fund the balance owing on the truck. In the economic climate we are in now, we were asking only for enough to deliver the new truck because that was the most urgent need.
Now, because of the outstanding support from members in our community, and from donors large and small alike, were moving forward with our stretch goal of
$ 200,000.00 or more! This will allow us to outfit the new rig with more modern and useful equipment that has been unavailable to our firefighters due to the severity of the City budget challenges. There is more than $ 60,000.00 worth of equipment, such as the Jaws of Life, that need to be updated and/or replaced in order to provide the citizens of Redlands and the men and women of the Redlands Fire Department with the level of protection they need and deserve.
Finally, if we are fortunate enough to exceed our stretch goal, the extra money will repose at the Redlands Community Foundation as an endowment that will help the Fire Department fund the Explorers program in the years to come, helping to train future life and property savers.
We are all grateful and proud of your support. We view the success of this campaign as a direct reflection of the respect our community has for these fine women and men who have served us so long and so well! |
